Riau Province is one of the few places left that still have traditional boat building and racing. The Koleks used to be seen in Singapore and Malaysia but have since died of taking the tradition with it. Thanks to the efforts of an enthusiast, Kolek racing is making a come back. The "Boat making island" is just south of Galang base and we are very lucky to have one of the best boat builders on site. There are no paper plans for these craft with only the skill sets filtering from one generation to the next... This is a really good series from Chanel News Asia...
